In 1972, musician and luthier Glen Quan, along with Leo Malliari of Leo's Music in Oakland, CA, recognized the need for higher-quality guitar and bass bridges. They created the "Leo Quan Badass" bridges, crafted from a high-density Zinc alloy, which significantly improved attack, sustain, and note clarity. These bridges gained popularity among artists looking to upgrade their Fender basses and were even featured on Fender artist signature models.
Throughout the 1980s, BC Rich, Spector, and Kramer incorporated Badass bridges as original equipment on their instruments, further expanding their acceptance in the music community. Today, Badass is renowned worldwide as the standard for high-quality replacement hardware that enhances the tone, playability, and appearance of guitars and basses.
Originally designed as a direct replacement for Gibson "wraparound" bridges, the Badass Wraparound bridge offers improved attack and sustain, along with the ability to intonate each string individually. This bridge gained fame through its use by iconic musicians like Jimmy Page, Malcolm Young, Tony Iommi, Keith Richards, and Paul Reed Smith. Now featuring premium locking studs, the Badass Wraparound enhances the performance of Les Paul Junior, Les Paul Special, Melody Maker, and similar guitars, making it the go-to choice for players looking to elevate their tone and tuning accuracy.
