Scope of Responsibilities

Music Gear Specialists are responsible for maintaining a friendly, welcoming environment, assisting customers in the selection of products and ensuring an excellent customer experience all around. As trusted advisors, Music Gear Specialists must be very familiar with the details and application of the products and services the store offers and must be committed to continuously learning about new products as they emerge. When not assisting customers, Music Gear Specialists ensure that products are fully stocked, and that the retail space is maintained to present a clean and tidy store. Music Gear Specialists also process sales transactions and returns for customers.

Reports to: Educational Services Division Manager

The Educational Sales Division at Cosmo Music is a leader in promoting music education. Our team’s mission is to become an indispensable partner to school music educators across Canada in building healthy, flourishing music programs by providing comprehensive, convenient, and effective service solutions.

Educational Sales Consultants are the face of Cosmo Music throughout schools across the GTA and beyond. The primary role is to build a customer base through adding school accounts while maintaining current ones with excellent customer service/experience.

We are seeking an individual with strong sales abilities, interpersonal skills, and account management to work with our school accounts. A successful candidate will also possess the ability to manage time wisely to maintain an excellent level of customer satisfaction while dealing with a high volume of schools.

Key Deliverables

  • An improved customer experience - through efficient and effective turnaround of customer correspondence, fulfilment of orders, and delivery of services

  • A higher level of customer satisfaction - through continual self-evaluation, analyzing successes and failures, strive to consistently deliver services at the highest level

  • An increase in revenue - constantly seeking out areas for growth, managing time effectively, and allowing for more time to seek new accounts

  • Explore and cultivate alternatives to traditional in person school visits, with a focus on maintaining and building strong customer relationships in the evolving service environment, using technology as a primary tool

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Represent the company at the school level by facilitating service, sales, and rental solutions

  • Promote the band instrument rental program as an excellent tool for building and maintaining strong school music programs

  • Promote the sale of consumable supplies (i.e., reeds, mouthpieces, and method books, as well as instrument purchases, PA, sound equipment, and repertoire)

  • Offer support and advice on a myriad of situations that arise in a school music classroom (i.e., troubleshooting instrument issues)

  • School visits (as required) to consult with teachers and to pick up and return instrument repairs and rentals, including seasonal delivery requirements (i.e., September and June)

  • Seek new areas for growth by identifying potential leads and developing those opportunities

  • Meet with potential clients and grow long lasting relationships by understanding their needs and demonstrating how our solutions will effectively meet them

  • Identify areas where we can connect customers with the full range of services that Cosmo offers (i.e., pro audio solutions, private lessons, music hall events, and more)

Qualifications

  • 3 years of sales experience

  • Experience managing a client base

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting the needs of many clients

  • Motivated to succeed and possesses the desire to provide the highest level of customer service

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

  • Knowledge of a wide range of musical instruments and equipment, particularly band instruments

  • Possesses a strong desire to continually learn and develop expertise, becoming a trusted advisor to clients

  • Ability to play at least one musical instrument

  • A clean driver’s abstract and minimum 3 years of experience driving with an Ontario full G-level license

Cosmo/Launch Music HQ Location: Richmond Hill

Cosmo is committed to maintaining an environment where team members have a place to grow and pursue excellence. We are a Canadian owned, full service, independent music retailer which has grown and prospered since 1968. We do that by continually evolving as a retailer and leader in the music instrument industry across North America. We have recently established a warehouse in Ogdensburg, New York, and will require product be moved from this location to both our headquarters in Richmond Hill, Ontario as well as a several locations in Montreal, Quebec. You will be part of our Warehouse Team ensuring we have products in the right place at the right time. You will have a dedicated truck and most weekends free, except when we have peak sales periods and products need to be moved in order to meet the requirements of our customers.

Scope of Responsibility
  • Pick up and/or deliver musical instruments and associated products between our HQ in Richmond Hill, Montreal, and Ogdensburg (NY) Warehouse locations
  • Monday to Friday and seasonally weekends based on peak sales periods
  • You will load-in and load out mostly pallets with product
  • Keep the equipment clean and in good working condition you will be driving the same truck on a regular basis. We address the insurance requirements
  • Perform a daily inspection of equipment and ensure health and safety protocols are always followed
  • Keep reports up-to-date, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner as required
Qualifications- This job is for YOU, if you can show us
  • You have a valid DZ driver’s license
  • You have a clear CVOR and abstract
  • Minimum 3 years of DZ Driving experience
  • Must be able to provide a clear criminal record and be bondable
  • A valid passport to be able to cross the border daily as required
  • Ability to lift or move heavy products along with the aid of warehouse equipment as this is a physically oriented position
  • High school diploma preferred but we look for team players and hard workers too
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good people skills to be able to have good relationships with fellow members of team
  • Possess excellent organizational and coordination abilities
  • Able to multi-task and place priorities in an orderly manner
  • You are an individual that pays keen attention to even the smallest of details
  • Adequate knowledge of warehouse data system is a benefit
Compensation

Hourly Rate: $27.50 CAD, payroll is bi-weekly.

Contract Position
What instrument do you play and love to teach?!

This is an independent contractor position. As a teacher with the Cosmo School of Music you will be responsible for enthusiastically nurturing, inspiring, and empowering the music making aspirations of everyone we engage with. You will provide superior individualized and comprehensive music instruction with a focus on: repertoire, theory, written theory, technique, sight reading, ear training, improvisation, and rhythm. This role will involve helping students learn more about music, develop a sensitive and critical listening ear, create, and perform music, and build an understanding of the role of music in history and contemporary society. These are all vital ingredients in the education of every student.

  • Nurture, teach, and show students in a 1:1 teaching environment how to use an instrument or their voice
  • Guide them as they perform and refine what they are doing to achieve the desired level of skill
  • Prepare teaching materials for individual students
  • Take daily attendance and communicate with front desk staff as needed
  • Connect with parents as needed to ensure forward progress

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music with at least 3 years teaching experience
  • High performance standard for primary instruments taught
